The rewards of friendship compensates for the hard work and potential sadness it entails. This theme is proven true throughout The Little Prince by Antoine de St. Exupery. When the Little prince comes across new people he always seems open to them as if to make a new friend. The Little Prince will eventually leave that planet or new person but is always thrilled for the opportunity to make a great new friend. When the Little prince first meets the pilot for the first time, he is kind to him and seems to entertain himself by asking questions just like he would do with a friend. The pilot at first, seems to be bothered by the little prince questions at first but eventually he tries to take care of the little prince instead of fixing his plane. The little prince also makes the pilot open to things e has not really thought about. The pilot will remember the memories about the little prince and things they did together or how they tried to help one another.
The Little Prince also comes across a fox and tries to help or tame him, He does not have the time but he tries to anyways. Taming takes love, care and is suppose to build a relationship between the two. The fox and the Little Prince know they will have to eventually leave each other but they form that bond of friendship anyways. They can look back on memories and fond times they had with each other. They could not have formed this bond without taking the time to try to become friends in the first place.
There is an old saying”It is better to have love and lost then never to have loved at all". This true also, no one can experience such a great feeling if it never has happened to begin with. My first love that I ever had moved away after we had been dating for almost a year, he moved across the ocean to another country. He isn’t coming back and I’ll never see him again but I would not give up a second I had with him, even though the lasting memories hurt. The memories of good times can stay with a person forever and even when they grow old. The Little prince shows that these memories, these friends are worth having.
